Eight persons serve on Lincoln Land Community College's Board of Trustees, seven elected from the college district and the eighth elected from among students of the college. The April 2005 election was the first in which trustees were chosen for four-year, rather than six-year terms, and were elected from specific geographic sub-districts. Another election for two, two-year positions on the Board of Trustees will take place in 2007. All positions on the Board, one from each of the seven sub-districts, will be on the ballot in 2009.
The board members represent residents of the college district to assure that the college is providing programs and services that meet the educational needs of the communities within the district. The board operates in accordance with the guidelines established under the Illinois Public Community College Act and functions as the college's policy-making body. Board of Trustees meetings are at 5 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Meetings are open to the public.
