Employment Resources  

Career Development Services provides the following services:

  • Resume assistance
  • Cover letter preparation
  • Mock interviews
  • Information on professional dress

We offer Resume Writing Workshops. Please call us to make an appointment to attend a workshop or for individual assistance in any of the above areas.

Additionally, we have pamphlets available which describe in detail interviewing skills, how to write an effective resume, job search record keeping, job readiness evaluation, dressing for successful interviews, as well as a wide array of Guides to Career Choices from the Illinois Department of Employment Security.

The following pamphlets are available to assist you with your job search. These are available in the Career Development Serices office at all times:

  • Cover and thank you letters
  • Your resume
  • Interview do's and don'ts
  • How to complete a job application
  • How to keep your job
  • Dressing for interviews

Career Development Services maintains a small computer lab to assist you with your job search. The following applications are availabe in our computer lab:

  • Career Explorer
  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Publisher
  • Microsoft PowerPoint

IDES RESP Program  

Seeking employment can be a daunting task, but even more so if you are an ex-offender. However, there are resources available.  The IDES Resp Program for Ex-Offenders has helped hundredes of formerly incarcerated men and women to find jobs, and they want to help you. Having a prison record may make it harder for you to get certain jobs, but there are many employers looking for workers with a good additude and a willingness to work hard. Launching Fall 2008

A new interactive employment database for use by students, alumni and employers.  Students and alumni can research local jobs or search from thousands of jobs nationwide.  Students and alumni can also upload resumes directly to the employer database.  Employers will be able to post jobs online and review uploaded resumes.  Completely interactive and easy to use.  Look for more information coming soon!
