COURSE DESCRIPTION
Have you always wanted to teach Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA’s) but not sure where to start? Then this course is for you. This five-day course for registered nurses is designed to train you on becoming a certified nurse aide instructor in Illinois. This course is approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health. Successful completion of this course will qualify RN’s to develop and teach the Basic Nursing Assistant Training Program. The course includes the required four-hour lecture on Alzheimer’s Disease. In addition, our program offers a State approved evaluator workshop. Meeting the minimum clinical workshop requirements is necessary for those course participants who would like to be able to TEST the CNA students’ manual skill competency.
If you have access to a CNA teaching manual, please bring it with you. You will also need to bring writing materials (pen, pencil, paper) as well as a highlighter. Conference room temperatures are difficult to regulate, therefore, please wear appropriate attire, especially if you tend to be cold.
ILLINOIS ADMINISTRATIVE CODE REQUIREMENTS
You must be a registered nurse with a minimum of two years nursing experience. One year of experience must be as a registered nurse caring for the elderly or for the chronically ill of any age through employment in a nursing facility (long-term care), extended-care unit, geriatric department, chronic care unit, hospice, swing bed unit of a hospital, home health or other long-term care setting.
