5/9 - Summer deliveries and Subway/Nelson’s hours     

During summer hours May 14 through August 3, deliveries to the Educational Services Areas will only be made once a week to each center.  Please plan your shipments according to the schedule below.

Tuesdays - Taylorville and Litchfield

Wednesdays - Jacksonville and Beardstown

Thursdays - Capital City Training Center and Small Business Center

Please plan your shipments accordingly.

 

Nelson’s Grill will close Thursday, May 10 for the summer. 

Subway will be open the following hours:

May 14 – May 31: 8am to 3pm

June 4 – August 2:  8am to 6pm

August 6 – August 17:  8am to 3pm

Beginning August 20 for fall semester:  Monday through Thursday, 8am to 6pm; Friday, 8am to 3pm

5/16 - LLCC In the News!      

Public Relations and Marketing’s current marketing campaign “The Truth Is…” is featured on the front page and inside pages of the May issue of Higher  Ed Marketing Report, a national publication for college and university marketers. Ads featuring David Laubersheimer, dean of Arts and Humanities, and Dr. Paul Hudson, professor of business, along with LLCC alumni Natalie Richardson and Jacob Deters, are included in the article. Lynn Whalen, PRM executive director, and Greg Walbert,  graphic design manager, are quoted.

Lynn Whalen was interviewed May 14 by the SJ-R and May 15 by WICS on the bid opening this Friday for a planned wind energy project at LLCC.

Jay Kitterman, director, Culinary Institute, was interviewed on summer offerings by the SJ-R food editor May 15.

Claire Gordon, Ph.D., professor of speech, and Amanda Hamilton, 2012 LLCC grad and Commencement speaker, were interviewed by the SJ-R for a May 12 front page story on LLCC’s Commencement. Lynn Whalen also contributed to the story.

Leslie Johnson, director, LLCC Litchfield/Hillsboro, and Tisha Miller, operations analyst, LLCC Taylorville/Litchfield/Hillsboro, were interviewed on WSMI’s Wednesday Morning Talk Show May 9 about upcoming summer and fall classes. Scott Stallman, executive director, LLCC Taylorville/Litchfield/Hillsboro, was interviewed on WTIM April 24.

The SJ-R’s  May 6 “Salute to Nurses” included an article by Diane Clark, assistant director, public relations and Lynn Whalen with comments from Cynthia Maskey, Ph.D., dean, Health Professions, and a separate article by Dr. Maskey on retiring nursing professor Leslie Dickson

Staffers of The Lamp student newspaper, Katie Good and Chelsie Strode, were interviewed by WTIM radio May 2 on awards won by The Lamp. 

Bill Harmon, professor of agronomy, was interviewed by Tim Landis of the SJ-R April 18 and WTIM radio April 20 on “Women in Ag Day,” an event held in the Workforce Careers Center.

Mac Warren, assistant director, recruitment and response, was interviewed April 11 on WMAY and WEAI radio stations on separate job and career fairs. 

Mark Hardiman, assistant professor, Theatre, was interviewed April 11 on WMAY regarding “Waiting for Godot” presented by LLCC Theatre. He also spoke with Tamara Browning of the SJ-R regarding the play on April 6.

Julie Bates, Green Center coordinator, was interviewed April 7 by WICS and earlier that week by the Illinois Times on the sustainable lawns workshop. 

Angela Gerberding, ESL coordinator, and Donna Martin, director, LLCC-Beardstown, were interviewed by WBEZ Chicago April 12 for a story on literacy efforts in Beardstown. 

Leslie Rios, instructor, librarian, was interviewed by COOL 101.9 April 9 on the Edible Book Festival. The SJ-R also covered the event April 10 and interviewed Debbie Johnson, administrative assistant, President’s Office; Becky Parton, associate dean, ITDE and Venita Lyons, IT specialist.

Jim Van Kleek, program director, Aviation and Dave Green, dean, Business and Technologies, were interviewed April 10 by the SJ-R for front page story on the aviation maintenance program. Photos were also taken at the LLCC Aviation Center.

5/17 – LLCC-Jacksonville hosts “Diaperbags to Backpacks”     

Morgan County Sheriff Randy Duvendack is talking with a guest at the Diaperbags to Backpacks event hosted by LLCC-J last Saturday.  The community was invited to this free event which included booths representing 30 organizations in the Jacksonville area.   More than 300 guests enjoyed the free books, facepainting, prizes, information, food, children's screening and much more.
