LLCC’s EREC to host Chalk the Walk event May 19
Event to be held in conjunction with Anything Goes Fair on Taylorville Square

SPRINGFIELD—Continuing the celebration of LLCC's 40th anniversary, the Lincoln Land Community College Eastern Region Education Center in Taylorville is sponsoring “Chalk the Walk” on Saturday, May 19. The event is being held in conjunction with the “Anything Goes Fair” on the Taylorville Square.

“Chalk the Walk” offers artists the opportunity to turn pavement into a color work of art. Artists are encouraged to have their drawings symbolize LLCC’s 40th anniversary theme of “Dreams Discovered, Lives Changed, Futures Started for 40 Years.” Artists are free to interpret the theme in any appropriate way on a six-foot by four-foot pavement canvas. Drawings will be judged on technique, use of color, composition and creativity.

More than $1,000 in prize money will be awarded. Prizes will be awarded in three age groups: under age 13, ages 13-18, and over 18. Prizes also will be awarded in each age group for People’s Choice, Most Original and Champion Pavement Artist.

Professional artists, clubs, or other community groups are eligible to enter. Artists will create their work from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with judging taking place at 3:30 p.m. An awards ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. Entry to the contest and supplies are free; however, pre-registration is strongly recommended as space and supplies are limited.

For more information or to register, contact Dee Krueger at LLCC’s Eastern Region Education Center at 287.7081 or 1.800.572.5448.
