“We were very pleased with the turnout and the artistic ability of all those who participated,” said “Chalk the Walk” coordinator Dee Krueger, EREC administrative assistant.

The event was part of Lincoln Land Community College’s 40^th anniversary celebration.  Artists were invited to create colorful sidewalk chalk drawings following the anniversary theme of “Dreams Discovered, Lives Changed, Futures Started for 40 Years.” Many visitors also tried their hand at “chalking” the community drawing illustrated by Mark Herman.

Over 100 individuals voted for their favorite artist.  People’s Choice Awards went to Rick Martell, Taylorville in the over 18 category, Emily VanOstran, Morrisonville in the 13-18 age category and Mathen Campbell in the under 13 category.  Rick Martell also picked up the Most Original Award in the over 18 category and Elizabeth Campbell of Taylorville was awarded Champion Pavement Artist.  In the 13-18 Category, Zachary Longdon, Owaneco won Most Original and Corey McClure, Taylorville was awarded Champion Pavement Artist.  In the under 13 age category, Mathen Campbell, Taylorville was awarded Most Original and Jack Ross, Mowequa won the Champion Pavement Artist.
