LLCC offers community education classes for summer 2007

SPRINGFIELD– Lincoln Land Community College is offering the following non-credit classes for summer 2007.  All classes are held on LLCC’s main campus at 5250 Shepherd Road, unless otherwise noted.  Classes include the following:

 

IDPH Food Service Sanitation Managers Re-Certification–Wednesday, June 6, noon to 5 p.m., Millennium Center, room 2204. This five-hour course meets the re-certification requirements set by the Illinois Department of Public Health.  Fee is $39.  Course code: CEW 118-01

 

Private Ballroom Dance–Lessons are scheduled per instructor agreement with couples or singles. Lessons are held at 3300 Ashley Lane, Springfield.  Couples and singles learn the steps to the waltz, fox trot, rumba, swing, tango and more.  Fee for the first partner is $155; the second partner is free.  Both partners must register.  Course code:  CEW-104-X54 (partner 1) or CEW-104-X55 (partner 2)

 

Yoga in the AM–Mondays and Wednesdays, June 4 through June 27, 10-11 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 533 So. Walnut, Springfield.  This program provides the opportunity for participants to experience a slower pace combining yoga and Pilates techniques, which build strength, poise, flexibility and endurance.  Fee is $40.  Course code: CEW 107-X01

 

Woodworking–Tuesdays, June 5 through July 17 (course code: CEW 108-X50A); Thursdays, June 7 to July 19 (CEW 108-X50B); Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 26 through Aug. 16 (course code: CEW 108-X51A); 7 to 9 p.m., Norm’s Shop, 1095 Lenhart Road, Springfield.  Students receive basic instruction on the use of power tools and safety.  At the conclusion of this instruction, students select one or more projects at his/her skill level.  Fee is $70.

 

Elementary Home Repair-Just the Basics–Thursdays, June 14 through July 19, 6 to 8 p.m., LLCC’s Eastern Region Education Center, room T108.  This course is designed for the home owner with little to no knowledge, skill or experience with tools, or for those who need a refresher on basic home repair, windows, doors, switches, outlets, faucets, and drains.  Fee is $40.  Course code:  CEW 109-T50

 

How to Write a Children’s Picture Book– Wednesday, Aug. 1, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Workforce Development Resource Center, rooms 1143/1144.  This seminar is for persons interested in writing and/or illustrating a children’s picture book for possible publication. The information will be very practical and by day’s end, participants should know exactly what to do to write, illustrate, publish and market a children’s picture book.  Fee is $55.  Course code:  CEW 113-01

 

Private Voice Lessons– Lessons are scheduled through instructor-student agreement.  Optimize your singing potential with eight private, half-hour sessions offered both day and evening hours.  Fee is $121.  Course code: CEW-122-X01A 

 

Private Piano Lessons– Lessons are scheduled through instructor-student agreement. Eight private, half-hour sessions both day and evening hours.  Fee is $101.  Course code: CEW-122-X01B

 

Arithmetic Refresher–Friday, Aug. 10, 5:30-9:30 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 11, 8 a.m.-noon; Menard Hall, room 1165.  This workshop covers the essential arithmetic topics in LLCC’s MAT 081/082 course.  After completion, students will have the opportunity during the following

week, to take a proficiency test over the respective course material.  Students earning a “C” or better on their proficiency exam will receive a waiver for LLCC’s MAT 081/082 course.  Fee is $60.  Course code: CEW 113-50C

 

Beginning Algebra I–Friday, Aug. 10, 5:30-8:30 p.m.; Saturday, Aug.11, 8:30-11:30 a.m., Menard Hall, room 1167.  This workshop covers the essential topics in LLCC’s MAT 088 course. After completion, students will have the opportunity during the following week to take a proficiency test over the respective course material. Students earning a “C” or better on their proficiency exam will receive a waiver for LLCC’s MAT 088 course.  Fee is $50.  Course code: CEW 113-50D
