LLCC signs baseball athletes

SPRINGFIELD – Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) signed 11 men’s baseball athletes Tuesday, June 12 in Cass Gymnasium on LLCC’s main campus, 5250 Shepherd Road, Springfield.  The following athletes were signed:

Taylor Gregory – Outfielder            Triopia High School
2004-2007 – Selected Western Illinois Valley (WIVC) All-Conference
2007 and 2005 – Played in State Journal-Register Baseball Classic
2006 – Chosen as Jacksonville Journal-Courier Player of the Year; selected Illinois High School Coaches All-State
2005 and 2006 – Named Jacksonville Journal-Courier All-Area First Team and State Journal-Register All-Area First Team
2004 – Voted best offensive player by teammates

Brady Kuntzi – Outfielder/Pitcher        Springfield High School
Four-year varsity letter winner; broke seven school records during his high school career
2007 – Played Illinois Baseball Coaches Association All-Star game
2006 and 2007 - Named Central State Eight All-Conference
2005-2007 – Played State Journal-Register Baseball Classic
2004-2007 – Named Academic All-Conference Central State Eight

Matt Lehman – Pitcher/Outfielder        New Berlin High School
2006-2007 – Named First Team All-Prairie State Conference; selected State Journal-Register Baseball Classic
New Berlin All-time leader in hits, runs scored, batting average and strikeouts as a pitcher

Marc Luttrell – Third Base            Triopia High School
2006 and 2007 – Named Western Illinois Valley (WIVC) All-Conference
2005 and 2006 – Selected as Jacksonville Journal-Courier All-Area Second Team
2004 – Chosen as Honorable Mention for the Jacksonville Journal-Courier All-Area Team

Brennan Malham – Infielder/Outfielder    Auburn High School
2007 – Received First Team All-Conference Prairie State and Sangamo conferences; Illinois State Scholar; State Journal-Register Classic Class A Offensive Player of the Game and Jim Wildrick King of Clout contest
2005, 2006, 2007 - State Journal Register Classic
2006 – Baseball Sports Page (Jacksonville) Player of the Year runner-up
2005 and 2006 – Prairie State First Team Unanimous All-Conference; State Journal-Register All-Area Team
2005 - Class A baseball Elite Eight Team; State Hitting Derby finalist; Baseball Sports Page (Jacksonville) Player of the Year
Auburn High School baseball team captain three years; Auburn High School class of 2007 salutatorian

Jamison Miller – Pitcher                Arcola High School
Four-year letter winner
2006 – Named Little Okaw Valley First Team All-Conference; Arcola High School Most Valuable Player; WICD-TV Athlete of the Week
2005 – Named Little Okaw Valley Second Team All-Conference

Cody Nergenah – Catcher            Triopia High School
2007 – Chosen to play in State Journal-Register Baseball Classic; selected team captain
2006 and 2007 – Received All-Conference Honorable Mention as catcher for the Western Illinois Valley Conference (WIVC) and was named to the All-Conference Team

Jason Runde – Centerfielder            Teutopolis High School
2007 – Selected as National Trail (NTC) First Team All-Conference; Teutopolis High School Heisman Award Winner
2006 and 2007 – Earned highest batting average
2006 – Chosen All-Conference Honorable Mention for the National Trail Conference (NTC); earned Most Valuable Offensive Player
National Honor Society member

Cramer Soebbing – Pitcher             Lincoln High School
2007 – Earned pitching record of 8-2 with a 2.67 ERA; selected as an Illinois State Scholar
2006 and 2007 – Selected to All-Conference Team and All-Academic Team for the Central State Eight Conference (CS8); chosen Lincoln Courier All-Area First Team
Three-year varsity letter winner

Tyler Witges – Catcher                 Teutopolis High School
2007 – Most Valuable Defensive Player
2006 and 2007 – Selected to National Trail All-Conference Team
2006 – Most Valuable Offensive Player
2007 – Presidential Scholar for Lakeland College; received high honors all four years of high school

Darren Zerrusen – Second Base        Teutopolis High School
Three-year letter winner and varsity club member
2006 – Most Improved Player
2005 – Member of third place Class A state championship team
