SPRINGFIELD—Lincoln Land Community College’s Capital City Center is offering a self-defense program designed specifically for women of all ages and fitness levels. RAD (Rape, Aggression, Defense Systems) will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, July 23, 25, 30 and Aug. 1 in the Trutter Center on LLCC’s main campus, 5250 Shepherd Road, Springfield.
The Rape Aggression Defense System is a 12-hour program of realistic, self-defense tactics and techniques. It is a comprehensive course for women that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, then progresses to the basics of hands-on defense training.
With more than 4,000 instructors certified and nearly 200,000 women trained, RAD System is the country’s largest and fastest growing self-defense program for women and children. The RAD System curriculum is taught at more than 400 colleges and universities across the United States and Canada, and is the only self-defense program ever to be endorsed by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA).
Cost for the class is $25. For more information or to register, call the LLCC Capital City Center at 557.7290.
