LLCC to offer children’s picture book seminar Aug. 1

SPRINGFIELD – Lincoln Land Community College’s Community Education program is offering the seminar “How to Write a Children’s Picture Book” on Wednesday, Aug. 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The seminar will be held in the Workforce Development Resource Center, room 1143/1144 on LLCC’s main campus, 5250 Shepherd Road, Springfield.

The seminar is for anyone interested in writing and/or illustrating children’s picture books for possible publication.  Topics to be presented include: definition of a children’s picture book, developing an idea, plotting the book, writing the book, illustrating the book, typing the manuscript, copyrighting your work, locating potential publishers, marketing your work and contract terms.

Seminar presenter Peter Davidson has authored 23 books, including eight children’s books.  He has been published by McGraw-Hill Book Company, Perigee/Putnam Publishers, Haworth Press and others.  His latest book is a novel, “Okoboji.” Davidson has presented more than 500 writer’s seminars nationwide and has appeared on more than 85 radio and television programs.  The trademark of Peter Davidson’s seminars is that they are practical–participants will receive a great deal of information that is useful and can be put into practice.
