Lincoln Land Community College to hold another 28-hour registration marathon Aug. 10-11

SPRINGFIELD – Lincoln Land Community College will hold its second 28-hour, around-the-clock registration marathon Aug. 10 and 11 to allow students to enroll, register for fall classes, arrange for financial aid and buy books, all in one stop.

Prizes, food and fun are all part of the event, which runs from 8:00 a.m. Friday, the 10th, to noon, Saturday, the 11th. A full staff of student services personnel will be on hand to help students through the admissions and registration process. The marathon takes place in the student services hallway of Menard Hall on the main campus, 5250 Shepherd Road.
Over 400 students registered for classes at the first registration marathon held last January.
This fun event is designed for students of all ages, new and returning, interested in enrolling in fall credit or non-credit classes. Students can meet with an advisor, take a placement test if necessary, arrange for financial aid or a payment plan, and be ready to start fall classes.

The nighttime hours of the marathon are designed to assist working individuals and others unable to visit campus on weekdays. Services available throughout the 28-hour event include:

• Placement testing
• Academic advising
• Registration for classes
• Financial aid advising
• Payment plan sign-up
• Books and supply purchase
• Information on student activities

Lincoln Land offers on-campus weekday and weekend courses, online and “hybrid” courses, which combine online and in-class instruction. In addition, “short semester” accelerated classes, which meet for 12 weeks instead of the usual 16.

All credit classes can be applied toward certificates and/or associate degrees which transfer to four-year colleges and universities. In addition, individuals can take classes to upgrade their current work skills or to earn technical or career certificates. Senior citizens age 65 and older may enroll in any LLCC credit class tuition-free. High school and home-schooled students, as well as students attending other colleges and universities, can earn college credits by taking classes at Lincoln Land. Dual credit classes are available for students attending participating high schools who wish to earn high school and college credit concurrently.

Tuition for residents of the LLCC district is $72 per credit hour with financial aid and scholarships available for those who qualify.

Those unable to attend the marathon are still invited to call Registration Services at 217.786.2292 for enrollment assistance.
