LLCC Foundation announces new scholarship
|
SPRINGFIELD–The Lincoln Land Community College Foundation announced recently a newly established scholarship, Passavant Area Hospital Basic Nurse Assistant Program–CNA Scholarship.
The $500 scholarship award is available to students enrolled in LLCC’s Basic Nurse Assistant program who meet LLCC’s district residency requirements. Two scholarships are to be awarded annually. Residents from Morgan, Cass, Greene, Scott and Macoupin counties are given preference, with Jacksonville residents being given first preference. The scholarship can be used for tuition, books, fees and other education-related expenses.
“With a shortage of healthcare providers, we are pleased to continue our support of nursing programs at LLCC, particularly those offered at the Western Region Education Center. While students are not required to be an employee of Passavant, we would strongly encourage them to apply and learn about other potential educational opportunities here,” said Chester A. Wynn, president and CEO, Passavant Area Hospital.
“We appreciate Passavant’s support of LLCC’s nursing programs. This scholarship will assist students wishing to find immediate employment in the healthcare field and also has the potential to help with the healthcare shortage because being a CNA is one of the pre-requisites for both the LPN and ADN programs at LLCC,” said Carolyn VanBebber, nurse assistant program coordinator at LLCC.
Passavant Area Hospital serves the residents of Morgan, Cass, Greene, Scott and Macoupin counties in west central Illinois, is staffed by 800 full- and part-time employees, and is equipped to handle 93 patient beds.
The LLCC Foundation’s mission is to raise and receive charitable gifts in support of the students and programs of Lincoln Land Community College. Each year, the LLCC Foundation provides more than $210,000 in scholarship support to LLCC students.
Applications for the Passavant Area Hospital Basic Nurse Assistant Program-CNA Scholarship are available at the LLCC Western Region Education Center in Jacksonville and the LLCC Foundation Office on the main campus in Springfield.
