SPRINGFIELD—The Lincoln Land Community College Loggers and Lincoln College Lynx will help spike breast cancer in the second annual pink volleyball game on Friday, Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. in Cass Gymnasium on LLCC’s main campus, 5250 Shepherd Road, Springfield. The public is invited as the Loggers and Lynx paint Cass Gymnasium pink.
Admission to the game is $2 for students or fans wearing pink or $3 for general admission. Proceeds from game admissions and additional donations received at the game will benefit breast cancer support services at St. John’s Hospital.
Individuals close to the Loggers and the Lynx have been touched by cancer. LLCC head volleyball coach Jim Dietz states, “I started supporting cancer awareness when coaching at St. Anthony’s in Effingham on behalf of a mother who died from breast cancer when her daughter was a senior. It made me realize there is more to sports than wins and losses. This year, I have four volleyball players on the team who have had a female relative affected by cancer.”
For more information about the game, contact Jim Dietz at 786.2485. | Posted on Wednesday, October 10, 2007
