High school students, parents and adult learners invited to free event, 8:30-noon

SPRINGFIELD – High school students, parents and adult learners are invited to start or restart their college search at Lincoln Land Community College Campus Visit Day, the morning of Saturday, November 3. The free event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon, with check-in at Menard Hall on the main campus, 5250 Shepherd Road in Springfield.

The event is designed to highlight the advantages of starting higher education at Lincoln Land, including cost savings, personal attention from faculty, transferability of classes to four-year colleges and universities and preparation for careers.

Campus Visit Day will begin with a continental breakfast followed by separate welcome sessions for high school students with their parents, and adult learners. Participants can then sample from a number of mini-classes taught by LLCC faculty. Other sessions will address paying for college, choosing a career, and online learning. A “One Stop Shop” with displays from various departments and student activities will allow prospective students to talk to faculty and advisors while enjoying hors d’oeuvres prepared by LLCC Culinary Arts students.

All participants will be eligible to win prizes, including gift certificates for free LLCC classes. Campus tours will be offered. Students may also begin the process of registering for spring semester classes if they wish until 1 p.m.

Registration for Campus Visit Day is required and available online at www.llcc.edu, or call 217.786.2577 (toll free: 800.727.4161, extension 62577).

Students in the western region of the LLCC district are also invited to Campus Visit Day the afternoon of November 3 at the Western Region Education Center in Jacksonville (32 North Central Park Plaza) and Beardstown (109 White Pine Lane). Those facilities will be open from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
