For Immediate Release Nov. 5, 2007 LLCC SREC Advisory Committee conducts fall meeting New initiatives at SREC include fire science training Litchfield – The Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) Southern Region Education Center (SREC) Advisory Committee, along with several LLCC staff members including LLCC President Dr. Charlotte Warren, met for its fall meeting Oct. 25. Dr. Warren spoke to the committee about moving forward with the LLCC Strategic Plan, growing economic development opportunities in the area, and the implementation of the new HIRE (Helping Insure Readiness for Employment) Education program. Also at the meeting, Dr. Yvonne Mitkos, SREC Executive Director, discussed new initiatives at the SREC which includes a new Fire Science Training Course being offered in the spring. The new course is one of a series designed to meet the requirement of the Office of the State Fire Marshall, Training Division for Certified Firefighter II level training. The committee gave special thanks to Dr. Gordon Smith, LLCC Board of Trustees Secretary, for his years of continued support for the SREC as board liaison.
