LLCC World War I Trench Exhibit open for viewing Thursday, Nov. 15

For Immediate Release Nov. 13, 2007 Contact: Lynn Whalen, 217.786.2219 SPRINGFIELD - The outdoor World War I trench exhibit at Lincoln Land Community College will be open to the public this Thursday, Nov. 15, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Chris McDonald, Ph.D., LLCC professor of political science and coordinator of the trench project, along with several student re-enactors, will be present to speak on World War I trench warfare and lead visitors through the trench. There is no charge to view the trench project, which is located at the east edge of the main campus at 5250 Shepherd Road. Additional visit days and special events at the trench for the public will be held throughout the academic year. School groups are also welcome to visit by appointment, and may contact Dr. McDonald at 786.4937 or LLCC’s Public Relations Office at 786.2219. The trench project offers a glimpse of the front line in World War I and is part of a year-long observance at the college called "Bringing 'Over There' Back Here."
