LLCC participates in National Teach-In on Global Warming Jan. 28-Feb.1

SPRINGFIELD–Lincoln Land Community College joins 1,000 colleges and universities in the National Teach-In on Global Warming this week. The public is invited to attend the following brown-bag lectures and/or video showings. The LLCC Environmental Club will also have an exhibit on the political candidates’ views on the environmental legislation in the front entryway of Menard Hall.
Tuesday, January 29 • Robert H. Stephens Room 11:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. • “The Politics and Psychology of Global Warming” presented by Chris McDonald, Ph.D., professor, political science and Natasha Rainbolt-Trame, instructor, psychology
12:30 – 1:10 p.m. Video showing of “Recycled Life” - A dramatic story of the thousands of adults, children and generations of families who have been living and working in the largest and most toxic landfill in Central America over the last sixty years.
Wednesday, January 30 • Robert H. Stephens Room Noon – 1 p.m. • “Personal Choices and Global Warming: Reducing Your Carbon Footprint” presented by Bob Croteau, CWLP energy conservation manager
Thursday, January 31 • Robert H. Stephens Room Noon – 1 p.m. • “The Spiritual Perspective on Caring for the Planet” presented by Sister Sharon Zayac of Jubilee Farm
1: 15 – 2:15 p.m. Video showing of “Oil on Ice” - A documentary connecting the fate of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to decisions America makes about energy policy, transportation choices and other seemingly unrelated matters. Caught in the balance are the culture and livelihood of the Gwich'in people and the migratory wildlife in this fragile ecosystem. The film discusses the conflict between the oil industry and environmentalists over the future of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge
