TAYLORVILLE – The Advisory Committee for the Lincoln Land Community College Eastern Region Education Center (EREC) heard updates on the Professional Accelerated Career Training (PACT) and Alternative School programs at a meeting at the EREC in Taylorville February 15. Jim Brubaker, executive director of the EREC, also updated members regarding spring semester enrollments and demographic statistics.

Committee members learned that the PACT program has been expanded to include coursework for the office assistant certificate program. This additional career path joins the existing welding operator, criminal justice and allied health fields of study. Area high school students attend the EREC in the afternoon to participate in the PACT program.

David Andrews, assistant director of EREC, reported that the Alternative School collaboration between Taylorville School District and LLCC has been successful, and the program is currently full.

Mr. Brubaker informed the group that all regional education centers are undergoing in-depth program reviews including a look at different modes of instructional delivery. Dr. Charlotte Warren, president of LLCC, added that all LLCC programs are reviewed routinely to insure cost containment and their benefit to LLCC students.

The meeting concluded with a long distance learning demonstration and a review of the EREC web page.

The next meeting of the EREC Advisory Committee will be held May 9.
