SPRINGFIELD – LUNAFEST, a national fundraising film festival featuring short films by, for and about women, will be held at Lincoln Land Community College Friday evening, March 28.
The event, hosted by the LLCC Feminist Activist Coalition, begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Trutter Center. Tickets are $7.00 each ($5.00 with student I.D.) and are available by calling 786.2762, or may be purchased at the door. Proceeds will benefit the Sojourn Center of Springfield, a shelter for domestic abuse survivors, as well as the Breast Cancer Fund.
LUNAFEST, now in its seventh year, is a festival dedicated to promoting awareness about women’s issues, highlighting women filmmakers, and bringing women together in their communities. This unique film festival highlights women as leaders in society, illustrated through nine films by women filmmakers. The films range from animated shorts to fictional drama, and cover topics such as women’s health, body image, spirituality, relationships, cultural diversity and breaking barriers.
More information is available by contacting Dr. Deborah Brothers, professor of English and advisor to the Feminist Activist Coalition, at 786.4966 or deborah.brothers@llcc.edu.
