LLCC offering summer scholarships to high school students

High school students in the Lincoln Land Community College District enrolling in a summer college credit course are invited to apply for a Special Admissions Scholarship. These scholarships pay for up to four credit hours of tuition for college credit classes at Lincoln Land during the 2008 summer term.

High school students aged 16 and older from the Lincoln Land district can take any transfer or occupational courses, up to four credit hours, with no tuition charge. (2008 high school graduates are not eligible.) Students must be registered for class to be eligible and to apply for the scholarships. Class registration begins April 30; however, admission and placement testing (if required) can begin immediately, according to Ron Gregoire, LLCC director of admissions.

Informational brochures and applications for the Special Admissions Scholarships are available from high school guidance counselors, at the LLCC main campus and at LLCC locations throughout the district.

These scholarships, funded through a state grant, are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until scholarship funds are depleted. The scholarships are available for classes taught at all LLCC locations including the main campus, Springfield East Campus, Eastern Region Education Center in Taylorville, Western Region Education Center in Jacksonville and Beardstown, and Southern Region Education Center in Litchfield and Hillsboro.

Questions regarding the Special Admissions Scholarships should be directed to LLCC Admissions at 786.2298, or any LLCC regional education center.
