Participating bands include Sea Life, Don’t Mess With Winkie! and A Band of Pirates

SPRINGFIELD–The Lincoln Land Community College Student Government Association is sponsoring a Battle of the Bands Saturday, April 19 at 1 p.m. outside Menard Hall on LLCC’s main campus, 5250 Shepherd Road, Springfield.  The public is invited.

To date, bands participating in the event include Sea Life, Don’t Mess With Winkie! and A Band of Pirates.  Bands can still submit their application until Wednesday, April 9.  Eligible bands must have at least one member who is a current LLCC student or LLCC alum.  Cash prizes include: first-$300; second-$200; and third-$100.  Applications are available on the LLCC Student Life Office Web site http://www.llcc.edu/studentlife.

The Battle of the Bands is the kickoff event for Soberfest, an annual program sponsored by the Student Government Association, to educate students on the dangers of substance abuse and to promote a healthy lifestyle.  The event is being sponsored by WDBR radio and will feature games, giveaways and food.
