LLCC Occupational Therapy Assistant students earn 100 percent pass rate on national certification exam

SPRINGFIELD–Lincoln Land Community College’s Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program announces a 100 percent pass rate for its December 2007 graduates on the national certification examination administered by the National Board of Certification for Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). 

Since the inception of the OTA program in 1998, the program has graduated 80 individuals. All LLCC graduates of the program have passed the examination on their first attempt. The national pass rate for first-time test takers is 87 percent; whereas, the overall national pass rate for all cohorts (first-time and repeat test takers) is 80 percent.

LLCC graduates scored higher than the average scaled scores for all U.S. schools with OTA programs in all sections of the test which covers knowledge in areas of evaluating clients, planning and implementing effective treatment, providing services that address needs in a variety of populations, and the management of occupational therapy services.

Director of LLCC’s OTA program is Ruth Bixby, OTR/L.  Clinical coordinator and associate professor is Eve Fischberg, M.A., OTR/L.
