Over 400 students register for classes during 28-hour registration marathon Jan. 5-6 at Lincoln Land Community College
SPRINGFIELD – Over 400 students registered for classes at Lincoln Land Community College's 28-hour, around-the-clock registration marathon from 8 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5 to noon, Saturday, Jan. 6. Students could enroll, register for spring classes, arrange for financial aid and buy books, all in one stop.
There was a steady stream of students registering from 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 a.m., picking up again at 6:00 a.m. There was also a long line of people who came out to meet our alumnus, Ryan O’Malley, of the Chicago Cubs, from 11 to noon Friday.
Busiest times for registration were from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday. Most people registering came with family members or friends. There were all ages, and we heard many stories about “this was the push I needed to register,” “there was no excuse not to when you were here all night,” “I’ve been wanting to do this but hadn’t been able to come out to campus.”
This morning, the winners of the prizes were drawn. The top prize, a video iPod, went to Ashley Carter of Virden.

Numerous people were also awarded LLCC 40th anniversary T-shirts throughout the event.
