TAYLORVILLE — Lincoln Land Community College’s Eastern Region Education Center hosted Lincoln Land Night during the Taylorville/Glenwood basketball game at Taylorville High School Dec. 15.
Lincoln Land Nights celebrate the partnership LLCC has with area high schools. Taylorville High School participates in LLCC’s dual-credit program in which students can earn high school and college credit simultaneously. Taylorville High School students also participate in the PACT (Professional Accelerated Career Training) and HEAT (Higher Education Academic Transfer) programs.
As part of the halftime activities, two attendees were selected to participate in a free throw competition. Mike Wareham hit seven out of 10 free throws and won a $200 gas card, while Phil McKinney hit three out of 10 and was awarded the consolation prize of a $100 gas card.
LLCC’s EREC is also celebrating dual-credit partnerships this academic year with Nokomis, Rochester, South Fork and Edinburg high schools.
