Faculty approves new contract
|
The Lincoln Land Community College Faculty Association voted last evening to approve a three-year contract proposal from the College.
“The Board is very pleased that faculty negotiations have concluded amicably and successfully, and that the College can continue to move forward,” said LLCC Board Chairman Kent Gray. “Both the faculty and administration have worked cooperatively to reach an agreement that takes into account the fiscal challenges that the College faces and the desire that our employees receive fair salary increases,” Gray also stated.
Ron Seney, president of the LLCC Faculty Association, commented, “We are happy that negotiations are over and we can get back to what we do best, which is teach.”
The average salary increase over the course of the three-year contract is 4.5%, according to LLCC President Charlotte Warren, Ph.D., who led the negotiation team for the College’s administration. “I want to thank the members of the two negotiating teams that worked so hard over the last few months and brought this proposal to a successful vote.”
Gray added, “The taxpayers that support LLCC can be assured that we are determined to use their tax dollars efficiently while our faculty continues to provide excellent educational opportunities.”
Negotiations began last spring, were suspended over the summer, and resumed this fall. The LLCC Board of Trustees is expected to vote to approve the collective bargaining agreement at its next regular meeting November 15. | Posted on Friday, November 03, 2006
