Scheduling Appointments in the Writing Center

Here in the Writing Center, we do our best to accomodate walk-ins; however, this is not always possible. We encourage students to schedule an appointment ahead of time whenever possible.

		Meet with a Consultant on Campus Students who attend classes on the main campus may schedule appointments to meet with a writing center consultant in the Writing Center. You can schedule an appointment by visiting the Writing Center or calling us at 217-786-2341 or toll free at 800-727-4161, extension 62341.

Expect the following from your conference with a Writing Center Faculty Consultant:

Who? Faculty consultants are part-time and full-time faculty of the college. The instructors you meet with in the Writing Center are the same instructors who teach composition, literature, and humanities courses at Lincoln Land.

Time? You have signed up for an individual appointment on the hour or half hour. This reserves you approximately 20-25 minutes with a faculty consultant.

What?  Consultants are available to work with you on any writing assignment in any class at the college as well as scholarship letters, college application materials and similar documents.

Our policy?  We consult with students to take ownership of their own writing; hence, we do not proofread or edit papers. We will guide you through the writing process, make suggestions, and help you recognize and revise patterns of errors.

What helps?  Bring a copy of the assignment instructions and any work you have completed for it.

Records?  The consultant will keep a record of your name, the class, and the starting and ending times of your conference.

• Follow the directions below to set up an account and access your conference.

Online Writing Center Appointment Instructions

If this is your first appointment, you will need to set up an account. This will take about 5 minutes, but you should get started 15 minutes before your appointment begins. 

1.)   Follow the link to “enter the class” in the email you received from WizIQ confirming your appointment.

2.)   Click the orange “Join this class” button on the left.

3.)   Sign in or Set up an account

a.       If you have scheduled an online appointment before, sign in with the ID and password you created. You will enter the class if you are on time or see a timer if you are early. When the timer reaches your appointment time, you automatically enter the session.

b.      If this is your first appointment, click “Set up an Account” and continue with the following steps.

4.)   You will be prompted to enter your name and email address and create a password.

(You can use your LLCC email address or a personal email address if you have one you check more often.)

5.)   Once you have created your account, you can click the orange “Launch Class” button on the left. (If you are early, a timer will appear. Once your appointment time is reached, you will automatically enter the session.)
