Electricity is an integral part of our everyday lives — from home wiring to industrial equipment. At LLCC, students gain practical hands-on experience in the maintenance of both residential and commercial electrical systems. Program courses cover AC and DC circuits, AC industrial controls, electronic devices, industrial wiring, circuits and mechatronics. Students are prepared to enter the workforce in electrical and electronics repair, commercial and industrial equipment maintenance/repair, semiconductor processing or an electrician apprenticeship.
Employment in electrical/electronics repair, commercial and industrial equipment maintenance and as an electrician has a median annual salary range of $54,110-$57,190 in 2017. The job outlook is best for electricians with an 8.9 percent projected growth rate from 2016 to 2026, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Employment in electrical and electronics repair and commercial and industrial equipment maintenance shows more competition; however, qualified individuals with associate degrees and/or certificates should have an advantage over those without post-secondary education.

This program falls under regulations for “Gainful Employment in a Recognized Occupation.” LLCC provides the gainful employment information for Commercial Electrical Maintenance • Certificate of Completion in compliance with the “Program Integrity” and “Gainful Employment in a Recognized Occupation” regulations as defined by the U.S. Department of Education (34 CFR 668.8).
