Electricity is an integral part of our everyday lives – from home wiring to industrial equipment. At LLCC, students gain practical hands-on experience in the maintenance of both residential and commercial electrical systems. Program courses cover AC and DC circuits, AC industrial controls, electronic devices, industrial wiring, circuits and mechatronics. Students are prepared to enter the workforce in electrical and electronics repair, commercial and industrial equipment maintenance/repair, semiconductor processing or an electrician apprenticeship.
Employment in electrical/electronics repair, commercial and industrial equipment maintenance and as an electrician has a median annual salary range of $52,720-$56,250. The job outlook is best for electricians with a 14 percent growth rate, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Employment in electrical and electronics repair and commercial and industrial equipment maintenance shows more competition; however, qualified individuals with associate degrees and/or certificates should have an advantage over those without post-secondary education.

Investment in Your Future
Electrical maintenance (ELM) and technical science (TES) courses have a variable tuition rate. For the 2017-2018 academic year, ELM courses have an in-district rate of $181.50 per credit hour. TES courses have an in-district rate of $151.25 per credit hour. Tuition for other courses in the program have a standard rate of $121 per credit hour. Fees are $11 per credit hour.
