Key Program Features
When computer problems arise, work and school projects as well as business transactions can come to a complete standstill. Help desk technicians come to the rescue by assisting computer users with training and support to keep their projects and businesses on track. Students in LLCC’s help desk program learn to examine strategies and tools to evaluate computer products, providing them the necessary skills to analyze and access computer hardware and software to address end-user needs. A help desk environment is simulated to provide students with practice in training and supporting end users. Students completing the help desk certificate program are prepared to get entry-level employment as a help desk technician or computer user support specialist. Our graduates have found employment with schools, hospitals, factories and other businesses.
As organizations continue to upgrade their computer equipment and software, more support services will be required. Employment for all computer support specialists, including computer user support specialists, is projected to grow 12 percent from 2014-2024, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The median annual wage for computer user support specialists was $49,390 in May 2016.

The courses required for the help desk certificate have a standard tuition rate. For the 2017-2018 academic year, these courses have an in-district rate of $121 per credit hour. Fees are $11 per credit hour. Get more information on tuition and fees.
