Honors students are required to complete a minimum of five Honors courses totaling at least 15 hours to finish the program. In order to earn Honors credit, students must receive a grade of ‘C’ or higher in a course marked as Honors. Students may also contract a non-honors class with an instructor to acquire Honors credit.
An Honors Program student must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 to remain in the Honors Program. Honors Program students are also required to take at least one Honors course per academic year. This can be done by either registering for one of the sections of the Honors courses offered or by completing an Honors Program Contract. Honors courses are designated with the section number HH.
All Honors Program students must take HUM-112-HH as one of their required Honors courses. It is expected that students will enroll in this class during their first Fall semester in the Honors Program.
An Honors Student may be put on Honors Program probation for either of these reasons:
- A cumulative GPA below 3.5
- Failure to take one Honors class per year
The student is dropped from the Honors Program at the end of the next semester if the conditions which put them on Honors Program probation are not corrected.
