 Welcome International Students!

 

 

LLCC welcomes international students to our campus and community. Thank you for your interest in Lincoln Land Community College, Springfield Illinois, USA. The following information is provided to assist international students seeking admissions to the college.

COSTS: An International Student attending LLCC on an F-1 Student VISA will be required to document funds available for education and living expenses of a minimum of $19,000.00 USD per year. 

Total educatioanl expenses for one academic year $9000.00 USD: Fall 2010-Spring 2011 tuition and fees for one year 30 credit hours $7800.00 USD. Estimated book costs for one year/10 courses $1200.00 USD.

Estimated living expenses for a 10 month academic year $10,000.00 USD: Rent and utilities for 10 months $6000.00 USD. Food and other living expenses for 10 months $4000.00 USD  While actual living expenses can vary the figures as provided are reasonably accurate.

HOUSING: Please note that LLCC is a "Commuter college". We do not have dorms, apartments or any other options for student housing. Students or their sponsors are soley responsible for all housing arrangments, contracts, security deposits , rent payments and transportation. Prospective students are strongly encourage to complete all housing arrangments before arriving in Springfiled. Prospective students may consider going online and searching "Springfield Il apartments" or other such keywords to view local housing options near our campus. The college is served by the Springfiled public bus system. Many apartments are located on or near bus routes.

SUBMISSIONS DEADLINES: All I-20 application forms and documentation must be received by LLCC Admissions no later than 90 days prior to start of applicable term. This is the minimum amount of time required to insure processing of I-20, F-1 VISA, travel, living arrangments and enrolling for classes prior to the start of the term. Note term application deadlines below:

Spring semester 2011 Classes begin 8 January. Deadline for completed applications October, 2010.

Summer term 2011 Classes begin 6 June. Deadline for completed applications March, 2011.

Fall semester 2011 Classes begin 20 August. Deadline for completed applications June 2011.

Spring semester 2012 Classes begin 7 January. Deadline for completed applications October 2011

 

 

 International Student Admissions

To be issued an I-20 begining the F-1 VISA issuing process an international applicant must complete-provide-submit each of the following:

  • International Student I-20 Application Form.  Fill out clearly & accurately, especially mailing address.
  • Lincoln Land Community College International Students application: Click Here
  • Transcripts, translated into English, from all secondary and post-secondary institutions attended. The transcripts must be evaluated by ECE / Educational Credential Evaluators. ECE forms for credential evaluation are available at http://www.ece.org/.
  • TOEFL score minimum: 500/written, 173/computer or 61/internet based TOEFL test. For detailed information about the TOEFL exam visit http://web1.toefl.org/or http://www.ets.org/ell or, scores of 3 or above on the APIEL exam where available. NOTE: LLCC School Code 007170
  • An affidavit of financial support in U.S. dollars and any related financial documents. An official affidavit is one provided by the student's bank or financial institution on institutional letterhead. The affidavit must include the student's name. Parent or sponsor's names may also be noted. Minimum required funds available per year for tuition, fees, books & living expenses $17,000.00 USD.
  • Health insurance is required for athletes and recomended for all other international students. For athletes proof of health insurance must be filed in the LLCC Admissions or Athletic Office within 30 days of arrival in district.

Admission advising is available through the Admissions Office for international students of several classifications (F-1, B-1, J-1, H, immigrants, refugees). Foreign-born students who have obtained citizenship status, but who encounter problems related to admissions / tuition rates should contact the Director of Admissions: VOICE: 217-786-2243, FAX: 217-786-2492, EMAIL: ron.gregoire@llcc.edu.  

Admission of international students is done on an individual basis. Due to INS and SEVIS requirements and processing time, it is strongly recommended that prospective students from a country other than the United States contact the Admissions Office at LLCC four to six months in advance of the term they plan to begin studies. This timeframe allows for credentials to be received, evaluations, financial, visa and passport arrangements to be completed and any other documentation to be prepared.

Due to admissions waitlists Allied Health AAS programs are not available to F-1 VISA students.

 F-1 VISA students transferring to LLCC from another U.S. college

 

An F-1 VISA student wanting to transfer to LLCC must provide transcripts, TOFEL scores and verification of financial support as listed above plus the following, no later than 90 days prior to the beginning of the term in question or admissions will be denied.

  • Copy of other U.S. College / University I-20 as issued to student.
  • Letter of release for student in good standing from the other US college or university

To meet INS requirements, all F-1 students must enroll in at least 12 semester hours of coursework. Prior to admission, international students must show evidence of financial support for at least one year's expenses. Therefore, international students are expected to pay tuition in full at the time of registration. Although most international students are ineligible for state and federal financial aid, students with refugee to immigrant classifications may be eligible to receive financial assistance.
