Sheri Ramsey, a signature member of the Pastel Society of America, was born in Omaha, Nebraska, lived in Indiana; South Bend, Bloomington, Indianapolis, and settled in Springfield, Illinois. She has been in Springfield since 1974 where she paints at the “Ramsey Art Studio.” She is also a member of: Prairie Art Alliance, Springfield Area Pastelists, Springfield Art Association and Gateway Pastel Society.
Ramsey graduated with a B. S. in Art Education at Indiana University. She studied at Lincoln Land Community College with Jim Murray and Jack Madura. She also studied pastel with Albert Handell, Bob Rohm, Leslie Rich and Colleen Howe.
She has taught oil and pastel at the Springfield Art Association since 1975 and has also taught workshops for the Prairie Art Alliance and in Puy l'Eveque, France. She teaches art appreciation, Springfield Art Association’s “Art Outreach” to Fairview Elementary School, grades K-5.
