 Chronology of LLCC Assessment Efforts

1995

NCA mandates “all institutions should have formulated viable assessment  plans”

 

Academic Assessment Steering Committee formed as an ad hoc committee

 

LLCC Academic Assessment Plan enacted requiring two-year cycles of assessment and analysis

1997

LLCC Academic Assessment Plan: A Report, Cycle I issued

1998

A Handbook of Academic Assessment and Research Practice issued

1999

Cecilia Lopez of NCA engaged as consultant to examine institutional assessment efforts

2000

Academic Assessment Steering Committee evolved into a standing committee and was renamed the Assessment Committee

 

Academic departments began cycles of program assessment

2001

Departments with general education core courses established and assessed general education outcomes

2004

Assessment committee piloted portfolio project with honors program students

2005

LLCC hired full-time faculty member to serve as Assessment Coordinator

2006

  • Expansion of portfolio project
  • Monitoring report due November 1st to the Higher Education Commission; Assessment of Student Academic Achievement and General Education
  • Assessment Coordinator position responsibilities divided between two faculty.  

 2007

  • Application to The Academy for Assessment of Student Learning submitted to Higher Learning Commission.
  • Multiple Methods and Measures of Assessment determined to be: E-Portfolio, Tagging (with the use of BlackBoard), Standardized Testing (using all or part of the components of ACT’s CAAP (Collegiate Assessment of Academic Proficiency). 
  • Assessment Survey administered to all faculty to measure LLCC’s General Education Learning Outcomes and to evaluate pedagogy.
