This seminar, presented by Braking Traffik, will provide base knowledge about human trafficking, vulnerable populations, trafficker tactics, links between sex trafficking and prior trauma and the impact of trafficking on individuals. The documentary Any Kid, Anywhere will be screened for audience members. This documentary features three survivors of sex trafficking from Iowa and Illinois and their experiences. Professionals from various fields will come away with knowledge on how survivors may present in their respective fields and how to serve these individuals.
Upon completion of this seminar, participants will be able to:
- Discuss the different forms of trafficking.
- Identify vulnerable populations that are targeted for trafficking.
- Examine the link between sex trafficking and prior trauma.
- Explore how survivors might present to health care or mental health professionals, teachers and law enforcement.
- Summarize referral and resources available for patients.
About the Presenter
Braking Traffik is a leader in Iowa and Illinois to end human trafficking. A program of Family Resources, Braking Traffik provides community outreach and education, legislative advocacy and comprehensive services to survivors of human trafficking.
