The Green Center at Lincoln Land Community College is a member of IGEN, the Illinois Green Economy Network unites the state’s 48 community colleges in a joint effort to stimulate the state’s green economy through the strategic provision of green workforce training, market transformation, and community outreach.
LLCC’s Green Center is one of 12 IGEN member colleges to receive funding for sustainability professionals in 2010, thanks to a grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO). Due to these funds and additional support from the Illinois Congressional Representatives, the Department of Education, and the Department of Energy, funding support exists through September 2012.
Both IGEN and the Green Center at LLCC are actively seeking additional funding for campus and community green jobs training and sustainability projects.
