 Course Description: 
All classes are taught by an interim licensed or practicing Registered Pharmacist of Doctor of Pharmacy who brings real life experiences to the classroom.

The Professional Pharmacy Technician Program is a 75 hour course designed to teach students the fundamentals of being a pharmacy technician. The program is geared towards a variety of students including those interested in becoming pharmacy technicians, pre-pharmacy students, or those with a healthcare background looking to strengthen their current skills. The class introduces students to various pharmacy practice settings and covers drug classes, basic physiology, drug interactions, and daily pharmacy operations. This program trains individuals to effectively assist in pharmaceutical preparations and complete daily required tasks in any pharmacy environment, although on the job training is still a crucial part of the educational process. A certificate is granted upon successful completion and job placement assistance is available.

 Course Information

The class typically meets 2 nights a week for a total of 6 hours and continues for 12 weeks.

Prerequisites include High School Diploma or a GED.

Recommended (not required) courses available at the colleges:

  • Public Speaking/Communication
  • Introductory Keyboarding/Computers
  • Basic math (fractions/percentages)

Classes are taught by a interim licensed or practicing Registered Pharmacist.

Fees include all textbooks and lab materials.
