About the Presenters

Kelle Endris

Kelle was born in Pana, IL, but moved with her family a great deal, living in Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas while growing up.  Her exposure to multi-cultural living has served to make a very interesting combination of perspectives on life and caring for patients and residents.  Her 36 year nursing career spans diverse clinical and administrative roles in acute and long term care settings.  Since 2002, she has directed her focus solely toward long term care.   Spending 23 years as a Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse has exposed Kelle to numerous levels of clinical challenges that are often seen in LTC.

After serving as DON for an Illinois based LTC facility, Kelle re-discovered her love for the healthcare of the aged adult population.   She now teaches for LLCC Nursing Assistant program preparing students for entry level into the nursing field, as well as, encouraging Certified Nursing Assistants to realize the extreme importance of their role on the LTC heath care team.

Kelle brings her enthusiasm as well as her “Texan style” to the classroom for a thoroughly enjoyable course of how to assess, promote maintenance, and improve the health and well-being for our geriatric population.

 Jan Fouts
Jan has a notably varied background in nursing, serving early in her career as a medical and surgical nurse (including intensive care duty), and as a nursing home supervisor, campus infirmary nurse, private duty nurse, and on the faculty of schools of nursing.

Beginning in 1977, she began to specialize in long-term care, worked in various settings as a corporate trainer for Restorative Nursing, DON educator, QA reviewer and as a Train the Trainer Instructor.  Jan also has made numerous presentations as a convention speaker and is the author of a Nursing Aide training manual as well as corporate manuals for Infection Control and Safety and Restorative Nursing.  With the inception of the MDS, she became a company trainer for all staff in MDS assessment and implementation as well as in Medicare and Medicaid documentation.  In this role, she worked to maximize reimbursement by improving the accuracy and completeness of data used to determine residency status.

Jan earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Minnesota and a master's degree in community health nursing from Northern Illinois University.
