Department Assessment Coordinators’ Job Description

 

 

  1. Serve as a liaison between the CELT Director, Assessment Committee and the respective department.
  2. Promote a culture of assessment within their department by encouraging colleagues to participate in activities, training and dialogue.
  3. Communicate with other Department Assessment Coordinators, and share working ideas and best practices regularly.
  4. Coordinate faculty effort to initiate activities, conduct studies, aggregate data, and analyze the data to identify changes for the improvement of students’ learning.
  5. Provide technical assistance to the faculty members with the design, execution and analysis of assessment activities.  Faculty may be referred to an assessment entity that specializes in statistical studies.
  6. Identify disciplines, programs and courses in which all steps of assessment including planning, implementing, and usage of results have taken place.
  7. Make and maintain an electronic record of all specific changes that have been made throughout the department as a result of some assessment activity.
  8. Make and maintain an electronic record of all assessment-related activities that have been done in the recent past, or are currently being done in respective departments.  This includes assessment at course, program, and Gen Ed level. At the end of each Fall and Spring semester, prepare a summary report (in electronic form) of the entire semester’s assessment activities within the department. Summarize the result and make a list for quick reference.  Be sure to include:
    1. Disciplines within the department,
    2. Programs within any Disciplines,
    3. Courses.  

This document will be shared with the Assessment Committee and with CELT.
