Students enrolled in the coding internship program will participate in and may get to perform the following activities:

• Inpatient clinic coding including assigning ICD-9, CPT, and other appropriate codes
• Coding and understanding various insurance carrier requirements for coding
• Coding meetings and training
• Identifying coding Web site resources
• Writing policies and procedures related to coding

You generally complete your internship in one of the last two semesters of your course work, when the majority of your coding courses have been completed. 

You will need to contact your internship coordinator, Christie Hovey, during the semester prior to your internship.
