CFC Orientation
 What is a CFC Orientation?

Students in my classes are required to visit the CFC a minimum of one time each semester for an orientation session--whether or not you have taken previous CFC classes with me.

During the orientation session, students are provided with a “Getting Started” sheet that provides a quick overview of course requirements—including directions for accessing software and Web sites requiring passwords.

Be sure you know where to find: 1) your syllabus, 2) your software for the course, 3) required files for the assignments, and 4) assignment sheets before you leave your orientation session.

In Christie's classes, there is homework during the first week.

You will receive a letter in the mail from the CFC advising you of the orientation schedule prior to the start of the semester. There are specific times for the orientation sessions held during the first two weeks of the semester...please visit during the orientation scheduled for your class.

Students are also given an overview of the variety of services provided by the center.

Please make the most of your orientation session. Arrive on time. Your orientation will be held in Logan Hall 1140...located on the south side of the main campus.

Please bring your registration form, your textbook(s), any software and materials provided with your textbook, etc.

Also, bring a 3-ring binder with dividers so you can begin getting organized for your class. You'll want to have a spot in the front for your syllabus that you can reference on a weekly basis to know what assignments are due.

It's also suggested for Christie's classes that you create tabs in your 3-ring binder according to the links shown at the left of the course once you are in your Blackboard course (i.e. Syllabus and More, Getting Started Documents, Assignments/Homework, etc.).

It is important for you to know where to look for items for your course.
