Spend a music-filled week with, Sue Hamilton, LLCC Adjunct Professor of Music, and experienced vocal director for a choral workshop that will have you singing and enjoying the music of Broadway, the movies and much more. The director will polish your vocal techniques and expand your love of singing. Between rehearsals, a variety of classes and presentations will highlight various composers and their contributions to choral music. At the end of the week, perform a concert for the public at the Old State Capital Historic Site.

Join us for a program that includes a celebration of the day Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This program will feature a number of special activities related to this important document.
Examine the national environment that led to the outbreak of the Civil War and visit the Old State Capitol where Lincoln made his famous “House Divided” speech. Discuss the impact of the seven Douglas–Lincoln debates on our rapidly changing country, as scholars recall the politics of slavery, division between the North and the South, and the outbreak of the war.
New* Service Learning: Preserving Lincoln's New Salem Village

Volunteer and make history come alive as you lend a hand at Lincoln’s New Salem State Historic Site during the annual Fall Festival with other local volunteers. Join site experts and staff to build a historically-accurate coal shed that will aid in the demonstration of blacksmithing. Utilize your writing, photography or drawing skills as you aid in the documentation of tasks such as candle making, basket weaving and more.
