The Construction Occupations Program at Lincoln Land Community College provides students with practical, hands-on experience in the occupations related to the construction trades. Construction Occupations trade workers may find employment as building maintenance, repair specialists, or supervisors, construction carpenters, brick or block layers, or painters with building contractors, manufacturing firms, government agencies and others.
Admission Requirements If you are a first-time LLCC student seeking admission to the Construction Occupations program, you must meet the general requirements for admission to the college.
Enrollment is based upon a waiting list. Interested students should contact the preferred enrollment location to have their name added to the waiting list.

Other Expenses All tools and materials for the Construction Occupations program are provided by Lincoln Land Community College.
Course content The classroom environment is not a traditional lecture class, as 80% of the classroom time is actually spent with hands-on activities in a lab environment. Students will work together cohesively as a unit to construct lakeside cabins. Students enrolling in these classes should be self-motivated and able to work at their own pace. Student knowledge regarding course content will be assessed through tests, examinations, project evaluation, and instructor observations.
Class Times Classes are typically held during the evening hours. For each four credit hours attempted, eight classroom/lab hours are required weekly. Currently Construction Occupations program classes are held in Taylorville and Beardstown. Contact your enrollment center for the class schedule.
Attendance Class attendance and punctuality are factors affecting the final grade earned with the course.
Apparel Students may wear street clothes, appropriate for the construction environment, to class.
Curriculum for certificate of achievement The Construction Occupations Certificate of Achievement consists of nine classes totaling 34 credit hours.

Curriculum for Associate in Applied Science The Construction Occupations Associate in Applied Science consists of seventeen classes totaling 62 credit hours. In addition to the Certificate courses the following courses are required:
· Career Communications I and II or Composition I and II · American Politics · Employability Skills · Technical Physics · Three elective courses from the following options:
Cooperative Work Experience; Architectural Drafting Principles; Architectural Construction Documents I and II; Utilization of Concrete and Masonry; Wood, Steel and Aluminum Structures; Basic Refrigeration; Heating Generating Systems. Other electives are possible upon approval from the program coordinator and department chair.

The program is offered in its entirety at the Eastern Region Education Center in Taylorville and the Western Region Education Center in Jacksonville. Courses are currently offered during the day or evening with a self-paced, competency-based curriculum.
Students may attend from eight to sixteen hours per week and may enroll in four to eight credit hours per semester. |
