What is ERSAC?
ERSAC, also known as the Eastern Region Student Advisory Council, is an organization of students founded in 1998 by Whitney Vonck, Karen McGee, and Shaun Vincent. It was formed because of these interested students who wanted to make a difference at the Eastern Region Education Center.

The founders submitted a proposal to the LLCC Student Senate. The LLCC Student Senate then conducted a hearing on the proposal and approved ERSAC as a student club.

On October 21, 1998, the constitution was formed, ratified, and officers were elected.

Over the years since its inception ERSAC has been a huge contributor to student life in Taylorville. Members have been active in everything from food nights to parades to trivia contests. They have enhanced student atmosphere by the addition of sofas, foosball, and outdoor seating for studying and socializing.

Who can join?
Membership in ERSAC is open to all Eastern Region Students maintaining good academic standing (not on academic probation or academic suspension).

What is the purpose of a Student Advisory Council?
Purpose of ERSAC organization shall be:
a.) to function as student representatives of the Eastern Region Education Center.
b.) to encourage social and education interaction between the college and community.

Why join ERSAC?
Participation in clubs can be an exciting and important part of your college experience. As a club member, you have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills, get to know other students, and contribute to the college community.

What are some of the goals of ERSAC?
Fundraising events will need to be developed in order to continue existing goals such as the enhancement of student learning and recreation at the Eastern Region Education Center and a program as ambassadors to area high schools. Future goals include forming a group to assist local charities with community needs.

How can I become involved in ERSAC?
Elections for officers are to be held the fourth week of the fall semester. To run as an ERSAC candidate you must submit a campaign application to the Marcy Durbin, ERSAC Advisor, for approval by the third week of the semester. Guidelines for the campaign period will be given at the time of application approval. Campaign period will be held one week before the election. Participating as an officer in the organization sharpens students’ leadership and financial management skills as well as building a solid Student Development Transcript.  Meeting dates are twice a month with days being set by the incoming officers. Meeting dates and the latest ERSAC news are posted on the bulletin board in the student lounge area. Come join us and bring your ideas. Participation of students can make the difference at the Eastern Region Education Center.
