How to use IRS Data Retrieval after you've submitted a FAFSA:

  1. Go to,
  2. Login using your First and Last Name, Social Security # and Birth Date.  Click Next,
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the link, 'You may also: Make corrections to your FAFSA',
  4. You will have to enter a password to continue/or reset password,
  5. At the top of the page, click the 'Financial Information' link,
  6. Click on the 'View Option to link to IRS' link,
  7. Then click, 'Link to IRS',
  8. You will be prompted that you are now leaving FAFSA on the Web.  Click 'OK',
  9. You will then enter your personal information as required, and your filing status,
  10. Your address you enter MUST match the information on your 2013 Tax Return,
  11. Click 'Submit',
  12. Your tax information will appear.  Scroll to the bottom of the page.
  13. Click the checkmark box that says, 'Transfer my tax information into the FAFSA',
  14. Click, 'Transfer Now',
  15. You should get a message stating that your information was succesfully transferred,
  16. At the top of the page, click on 'Sign and Submit',
  17. Review your information that appears and scroll all the way down and click, 'Submit'.
