The goal of the Real Food Challenge is to raise awareness of ‘real food’ and to shift $1 billion of food procurement dollars to ‘real food’ by 2020.
‘Real food’ means food that is local, community-based, fair-trade, humane, ecologically sound and/or organic. The Real Food Challenge team offers workshops and trainings to bring students together and educate them about real food, then give them the tools to make plans, set goals, and take action on their campuses. This event will dig into the challenges and complexities of the industrial food system and will show students how hundreds of campuses across the country are uniting through the Real Food Challenge to bring justice to this system.
