Emergency Medical Services

Lincoln Land Community College's Emergency Medical Services program predicts a future of continually expanding pre-hospital care. The nation's healthcare system is undergoing rapid changes that will alter EMS and its healthcare delivery roles. EMS will be integrated with other services and systems that maintain and improve community health. The LLCC EMS Program will continue to sharpen its focus on the science of EMS, broaden its approach toward continuing education, develop specialized training environments, and expand its efforts to meet our community's healthcare needs. EMS of the future will be community-based health management that is fully integrated with the overall healthcare system.

This area of specialization offers professional, comprehensive training in pre-hospital care for the critically injured and ill. To prepare individuals to take today's lifesaving measures into the field, a combination of education methods are employed. Students can choose either a certificate at each level or a four-semester certification option. Each includes classroom instruction in theory and demonstration and clinical experience in simulated and real emergencies in local trauma centers and in the field.

The certificate program allows the student to gain a broader understanding of the field, with an eye toward a paramedic career. The certification program is offered for those seeking entry-level positions as an EMT.
