Radiography is the medical profession that uses x-rays to make images of the structures of the body. Related imaging modalities include computed tomography, angiography, magnetic resonance imaging, and mammography. Radiography is a specialty within the field of radiologic technology, along with diagnostic medical sonography, nuclear medicine, and radiation therapy. The educational program at LLCC is fully accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology, 20 North Wacker Drive, Suite 2850, Chicago, IL 60606, (312) 704-5300. Students completing the program are awarded an Associate in Applied Science degree in Radiography and are eligible to apply for examination by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. The program combines classroom instruction and clinical practice in radiography as established by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.
We receive numerous inquiries regarding education leading to credentialing as a Registered Sonographer. Lincoln Land Community College does not offer a sonography program. For information on accredited sonography programs:

Please be aware that most sonography programs require the applicant to be a radiographer or other health care practitioner in order to qualify for admission. However, since admission requirements vary by program, be sure to examine the requirements for each program in which you are interested.
Mission of the Associate Degree Radiography Program
The mission of the Associate Degree Radiography Program complements, and is interwoven with, the mission of Lincoln Land Community College by serving patients and employers in the district’s healthcare institutions by graduating competent, entry-level radiographers. Students will integrate the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective components of medical radiography and achieve the primary goal of clinical excellence built on academic achievement.
Program Goal #1
By completion of the program, students will demonstrate and document competency in the clinical environment.
Program Goal #2
Students will be able to communicate effectively and apply critical thinking skills to clinical scenarios.
Program Goal #3
By completion of the program, students will have developed ‘job –related skills’ and set goals for lifelong learning and participation in the profession.

The program will provide District 526 employers with graduates prepared for employment.
