Faculty Openings  

Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) serves a 4000 square mile district at its main campus in Springfield, the vibrant capital city of Illinois.  Springfield is centrally located between Chicago and St. Louis and is home to the new Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum as well as numerous historic sites and cultural events. LLCC also provides educational services at the East Springfield Learning Center and the Capital City Center, both in Springfield, and at Regional Education Centers in Taylorville, Jacksonville, Beardstown, Litchfield and Hillsboro, Illinois.  LLCC enrollment for 2006-2007 was approximately 17,000 full- and part-time credit and non-credit students.

 

ART INSTRUCTOR
One Semester Appointment Spring 2009

     Lincoln Land Community College invites applications for a temporary, one-semester position as Art Instructor beginning January 12, 2009 through May 15, 2009. LLCC is seeking innovative instructors who place student success and student learning as top priorities. The college is particularly interested in applicants who demonstrate an interest in active learning approaches, student assessment techniques, and utilizing technology in the classroom. Duties will include teaching 15 contact hours for the semester. Some opportunities exist for overload.
     A master’s degree in Art or a master’s degree in a closely related field with at least 18 graduate hours in Art is required. Teaching experience at the collegiate level is desired. The candidate must have significant experience in ceramics. A working knowledge of computers (Macintosh) and software appropriate to a computer aided art program and experience in course development would be an asset.
     The Art discipline is part of the department of Arts and Humanities. The Art area consists of four full-time and 4-6 adjunct faculty members. Course work includes: Art Appreciation, Two-Dimensional Design, Drawing, Commercial Graphics, Sculpture, Ceramics, Life Drawing, Art History, Modern Art, Art Education, Painting, Water Color Painting, and Printmaking. The dean, who reports to the Vice President of Academic Services, heads the Arts and Humanities department.
     Salary of this one-semester appointment is determined by education level and experience ($19,034 - $31,663). The college provides an excellent fringe benefit package and is supportive of faculty development. Full-time Instructional Faculty Member - an employee of the college who generally teaches during consecutive semesters 15 or more credit hours of instruction per semester, or its equivalent.

Application Process  

Applicants should submit an Employment Application, a letter of application specifically addressing position requirements along with a resume and all college or university transcripts, if applicable, and the name and telephone number of three professional references.
Resumes and applications may be submitted via email, regular mail or hand delivered to Human Resources between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
