Quote from student Matthew LeMasters:
“I think very highly of the EGL 102 class that I took with Dr. Dockter. It was the first truly online class that I had taken, which I was originally somewhat hesitant about since my 101 class (and all of my other classes) had been face to face. However, it became fairly obvious from the start that Dr. Docker made online learning fun not just because of his teaching methods and material, but because he understands that people like me were hesitant and new to an online class. As such, he was very accommodating to getting students to understand that online classes really aren’t that big and scary as they may seem, especially when you have an outstanding professor like him.
“Dr. Dockter’s teaching methods are perhaps some of the best that I can think of when it comes to an English class. When many students think of English, they likely think of having to read set books and write papers on topics/books that they are uninterested in. Professor Dockter does something much different: he lets you pick a problem or a topic within your field of study and let’s you write about it. Make no mistake, he sets you up for success and not failure. Every assignment is meant to guide you along to help you achieve your end result of writing a well-done, well-researched, and well-argumented academic article. As someone who is going into the field of history, this provided a rich opportunity to really further my research and writing skills. His teaching methods had done that so much so that I included more resources and wrote more pages than the final assignment had actually called for. I definitely felt like his class had helped me by the end of the semester. His connection with his students is also top notch; he provided helpful insight and great feedback on every assignment in a very timely manner.
“Overall, I would recommend that anyone take his classes. Perhaps the single greatest aspect about LLCC is its opportunities for students to succeed, and I believe that those opportunities begin with great professors. Dr. Dockter is one of those professors that wants to see his students succeed, and provides more than enough tools and opportunities to do so.”
