Blackboard
Blackboard is an online learning management system. The templated web-based system allows instructors to develop online content. This online content can then be used to interact with and engage students.


YouTube
YouTube is a video-sharing website which users can upload, view and share videos. The company uses Adobe Flash Video and HTML5 technology to display a wide variety of user-generated video content, including movie clips, TV clips, and music videos, as well as amateur content such as video blogging and short original videos.


Softchalk
With Softchalk LessonBuilder, you can create professional-looking, interactive content without knowing any HTML, or programming. With this software you can easily create engaging, interactive web lessons for Blackboard integration.


SafeAssign
SafeAssign™ is a plagiarism prevention service, offered by Blackboard to its Blackboard Learning System clients. This service helps educators prevent plagiarism by detecting unoriginal content in student papers. In addition to acting as a plagiarism deterrent, it also has features designed to aid in educating students about plagiarism and importance of proper attribution of any borrowed content.

Classroom technology and multimedia equipment support and training are provided by the ITDE department. Training sessions on the use of classroom technology and multimedia equipment are listed in the ITDE Workshop and Training page on this site.

Multimedia Development and Production

The department of Instructional Technology and Distance Education offers assistance to faculty and staff with multimedia development and production. Support for the following areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Podcasts
  • Videotaping
  • Video Editing
  • Digital Image Editing
  • Stored media production

Please note that projects involving multimedia development and production are subject to approval based on ITDE staff schedules and availability, as well as institutional priorities.
  
ITDE Faculty Open Lab

The ITDE facilities is available to LLCC faculty for support of online & multimedia academic projects and courses. The facilities include:
  • A digital video production station, VCR, connections for video cameras, an audio cassette player, and DVD burners
  • Windows & Mac OS workstations (scans photos, slides, and negatives)
  • Scanning (Photos, Slides, Negatives)
  • Color and Grayscale Printing


The following software is available for use in the ITDE lab:

Acrobat: Invented by Adobe Systems and perfected over 17 years, Portable Document Format (PDF) is the global standard for capturing and reviewing rich information from almost any application on any computer system and sharing it with virtually anyone, anywhere.

Camtasia: Screen recording software records mouse movement and and other activity from your PC desktop and then allows you to save it as a movie file.  This software is useful for creating training presentations, showing websites, walkthrough, demonstrating software, and turning PowerPoint presentations into movies that can be saved for sharing on the web, CD-Rom, and portable media players.

DVD Studio Pro: DVD Studio Pro is a high-end software tool published by Apple, Inc. to allow users to create DVD masters for replication.  (Only available for use on Macintosh computers.)

Final Cut Pro: Final Cut Pro is a non-linear video editing software acquired by Apple, Inc. which allows users to log and transfer video onto a hard drive, where it can be edited, processed, and output to a variety of formats. (Only available for use on Macintosh computers.)

iMovie: This is digital video editing software specially designed to give beginners the power to create digital movies from existing digital video footage and to convert VHS video to digital video. (Only available for use on Macintosh computers.)

Omnipage Pro: OmniPage Pro will help you reach new levels of productivity by eliminating retyping and allowing you to turn documents into electronic files you can edit, search, and share. Precision OCR technology, advanced layout analysis, and powerful editing tools allow you to quickly turn paper and PDF files into editable electronic documents that look just like the original--complete with text, tables, and graphics.

Photoshop: Photoshop is a sophisticated graphics editing program used by photographers, graphic designers, web designers, videographers, and 3D artists to enhance and manipulate photos and create original digital art.
